Philadelphia, Here I Come!

The play , written by Friel in 1964 centres around Gareth (Gar) O’Donnell’s move to America, specifically Philadelphia. The play takes place on the night before and morning of Gar’s departure. Gar is portrayed by two characters, Gar Public (“the Gar that people see, talk to, talk about”) and Gar Private (“the unseen man, the man within, the conscience”). He lives with his father, S. B. O’Donnell with whom he has never connected.

The play runs from Tue 24th May to Fri 27th May and Tue 31st May to Sat 4th June at 8pm upstairs in the Kildrought Lounge. Text 089 269 4894 for tickets. Please note that seating will be limited to 50 tickets per performance.
